Ode to an Icy Sunday

When it looks like this on the car and you hear on the news about a 30+ car pile up on the freeway....hm....sounds like we won't be leaving the house today.

Maggie says "For sure mom, no go!"

Instead we'll practice tummy time.....

Color some pictures and read books, most of which are memorized by all of us now.

Build "mountains" and

"Garages" our favorite things to build right now.

Change our clothes 5 times and get more creative with each outfit....

Make some white chili....YUM!

Thoroughly enjoy my favorite beverage.....doesn't the winter snowflake design make it even dreamier?!

Also, drywall is completely up in the basement, including the ceiling! Mudding and taping is next up, so we had to get out and start looking at the fun stuff! Here are some carpet and stone (for the fireplace) choices, which will hopefully help bring us to a paint color decision.....

And finally, somewhere during the day there will be smiles!

Thanks to a quiet and wonderful naptime by both young ladies, I was able to update today!!

Comparisons

Ready or not, I think winter's here! Gretta got to make her first snowman this past weekend, but I wasn't here to document and now it's melted, but Josh did get his first ski jump of the season documented....yes its off our roof.

Take away Maggie's hair and I think the girls look pretty similar!

Hunting weekend

Most importantly.....Josh got a big deer!

Gretta continues to express her creative fashion sense.....

She also tried on Josh's hat and wanted to go hunting!

Maggie was her usual (mostly) quiet self.

Happy Halloween and 2 months old!

Gretta picked out the flower gnome outfit at Target....I think it was all because of the hat, it is pretty cool!

Maggie had a couple outifits to choose from, these cute pumpkin pj's from Grandma and Grandpa H and the pumpkin hat from Grandma and Grandpa P, thank you!!

And this cute shirt came from Laura, thanks!

She was extra smiley today, maybe she thought she'd be getting some candy too?!

Her first holiday and she turned 2 months all in the same day!

Gretta thought she should go out with some candy already in her bag....so she helped herself to our candy bowl!

I'm crafty! (sort of)

We made Gretta a headboard and she seems to think its pretty cute!

Also I made Maggie a mobile so she has something to gaze at while falling asleep! I wasn't quite as happy with this project as the headboard, but its cute enough for a baby to enjoy. It's kind of amazing how wandering through a Michael's or JoAnn's will make you want to be so crafty even when you really aren't!

Josh's "crafty" side continues to show in the basement....insulation is DONE!

Drywall is STARTED! It's starting to look like a real space now!

Of course we couldn't blog without some pics of the girls.....

One of Gretta's favorite games is to play "sleeping" and to be covered up with blankies or have her dolls wrapped up in blankies like Maggie.

Cyst-Free!

Well, I had my gigantic hepatic cyst (actual diagnosis from liver specialist) (translation: a liver cyst which was the size of my liver) taken care of. Luckily, they were able to do the procedure laparoscopically and didn't have to cut me open like they originally thought, so I was only in the hospital for a day. I'm healing quite well. Josh, his parents and my mom have been taking good care of all of us, thank you so much!! Meanwhile, in the lives of 2 little girls....

Channeling her inner 80's goddess.....

Driving!

 Sleeping (what's new?)

 Hanging out

Kissing

Swinging (that is new for her!)

She's loving it!

Gretta sharing her sticker, now that's love!

Gretta is being the greatest help with everything, she is a wonderful big sister and has adapted so well to little Maggie. She has also been very understanding that I have "owies" and can't lift her for quite some time. We are so grateful for what a fantastic little girl she is!
