We went to the Caversham Wildlife Park and got to see lots of animals up close and personal this past weekend. Photobucket

Yawn, koalas sleep up to 20 hours a day and are usually only up for 30-45 minutes at a time!

Photobucket
By far the coolest thing, petting the kangaroos!

Little joey's are so soft!!

And finally some white ones, just to spice it up for you.

We also got to see some sheep, lamb, a cow, horse, dogs, goats in the farm area. Got to see a sheep get a "haircut" even! Pretty fun time was had by all!

Buses, trains and ferries

We took the bus to Cottesloe Beach last weekend and Maggie wouldn't leave the water! She loved every minute of it!

And Gretta is kinda like her mama....a land lover.

We also had a little Easter egg hunt around our apartment which was very fun to watch!

Photobucket
This girl also loves chocolate!

We took the train to Fremantle a suburb that serves as the port of Perth

Very cool architecture!

And of course we had to go up on the ferris wheel, more like a gondola really.

In more celebration of this little girl's 4th birthday of course!

We ended the long weekend with a ferry ride across the river to a parks, walked around a little and had a picnic, no pictures, but what a perfect day! We also took a taxi to Josh's coworker's house for dinner Monday night and there ends the story of all the modes of transportation we've taken.

Parks and birthday

Photobucket
If you squint you can see some people down there....that is NOT the bottom. That's about halfway. This is the hill I climbed pushing 50 pounds or so of little girls in a stroller, but by golly we made it to the bloody park we did. Maybe the picture doesn't do it justice, but it was big.

Photobucket
This was the alternative. Jacob's Ladder they call it here. So maybe this gives you an idea how big the hill was?

Photobucket
A nice view of Perth from up here though!

Photobucket
The park, was probably worth the climb. Just don't know that I'll be doing it every day! There were 3 different areas....so lots of fun for the girls!

Gretta requested Chinese for her birthday supper, we had to search about 10 places for potstickers or dumplings, since that is what she truly wanted! She also enjoyed some honey chicken and snow peas in garlic sauce, yummy.

Then we made it back to the hotel for mini-Magnum bars, can't believe she SHARED!

Photobucket
Love that she had to hold her thumb down to show how old she is now. SO CUTE!

Photobucket
I couldn't help myself....it may be mean, but this just had to be posted. Classic mullet.

Example of how Maggie usually runs, head down, full on.

But we think she may have changed her ways, just for a moment anyway!
More fun adventures were had this weekend but I decided to split it into two posts because otherwise this would've been really long!

4 Years Old!

Here is the video I was trying to post quite a while ago...a little old, but its a great representation of Gretta's (and Maggie's) favorite song, which also plays in Gretta's birthday video! Plus at the end of this one there's a special little performance, so I had to post both videos! Get out the tissues (and probably a snack!)

I really enjoyed doing both the girls' 1 year video so I decided to do one for Gretta this year and I think its something I will have to do for both of them every year (at least until they ban me from doing so) because I really like watching them and seeing how much they grow in a year! Kind of a nice way to celebrate too!

Happy Birthday to our big 4 year old! Gretta, cannot believe its been 4 years since you came into our lives and changed it in so many, many amazing ways!! WE LOVE YOU!

Favorite quotes from her today:
*When I told her Happy Birthday this morning,"But, I'm not bigger?!" and "My birthday isn't until after supper!" She was promised ice cream after supper, so apparently to her that means her birthday doesn't start until there's ice cream! HaHa!

*When asked what its like to be 4, "I don't FEEL like I am!"

Perth

Photobucket
Bags packed and ready to go! Sorry had to show this because I was super impressed with myself that I got 5 weeks worth of clothes in that beige suitcase for me, the big black duffle is the girls and ever the simple packer is Josh and his little black suitcase!

Photobucket
Still loving each other at the end, landing in Perth!

Some cool architecture and the sky is really blue here!

Kitchen and dining room

The living room/dining room and the balcony

Photobucket
The one and only bedroom. We switched hotels after the first night because the other place had only a microwave as the "kitchen". So we gave up a 2 bedroom, but gained a full kitchen, laundry in our room, a balcony and a pool!

Photobucket

Photobucket
The little nest we made for the girls in our room, they seem to enjoy it so far!

Photobucket
And they really love the balcony! We haven't been to the pool yet, hasn't been quite nice enough, but we'll definitely have pictures when we do!
